RE/Using our RE/Sources

Written by Laura Petrovich-Cheney
This exhibit, RE/Using our RE/Sources, an Eco-Art Performance and Exhibit, had its opening reception on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Sandy Springs Museum in Sandy Springs, Maryland. This exhibition and performance was a combination of efforts by the Washington DC and Philadelphia Chapter. In a response  to the  ecology and our communities, the theme of the exhibit was inspired by the ideals of living in greater harmony with our natural environment. The idea was to create an exhibition of engaging work about our natural resources and our concerns for environmental balance, highlighting art that celebrates natural themes or that uses natural or recycled materials with a transformative vision. Perfromances were by the Philadelphia WCA and Young Women's Caucus. Bonnie MacAllister performed "What the Water Wore;" Mira Treatman performed "Gertrude for Dinner;" and Gabrielle de Burke/a.k.a. Plum Dragoness performed "Transit Tales: a public her-story" and "Rockin' Retro Using Relics." There was also a workshop hosted by Plum Dragoness.

The Greater Washington DC and Philadelphia Chapters had over 30 artists working in a variety of media and represented both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works. The reception was extremely well attended by both chapter members and the community of Sandy Springs.
