CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 7th annual Wonder Women Project and APPLY!! Deadline 12/16/2011
The Learning Agency
a Wonder Women project at _gaia
“Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rests the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development.”—Kofi Annan
Women's equality is a prerequisite for human development. We have the opportunity to redefine the future of global economies by focusing on education, literacy and the empowerment of women. With this in mind, Wonder Women invites artists to reflect on the power of women’s agency in communities and economies. We challenge these artists to explore possibilities with women at the center of learning, health, technology and governance.
The Learning Agency aims to harvest creativity and inspire social change. This artist residency will address issues related to education, economy, displacement, and policy. We are especially interested in digital media and technological explorations of this topic. Every Sunday, beginning January 22nd through February 26th, accepted applicants will meet as a group at _gaia studio to discuss current social issues and topics brought forth by participants. There will be a potluck lunch each Sunday with group discussion and critique of works in progress. All accepted applicants must commit to all Sunday meetings (see schedule below). The program ends with a group show.
