Please Bring lots of Ideas !!
Remember the WCA is your organization and everyone needs to contribute! What we will be doing for the next 6months or so will be planned at this meeting so please come! If you can not come post to blog comments or email phila_wca@yahoo.com by Tuesday and someone will print them out and bring them in. There will also be a workshop on "Artist Statements" so if you have some or a few that need working on bring them as well.
The National WCA Conference in New York was truly inspirational! The panels, the reception for the awards recipients, and workshops were all awesome and amazing in many ways. This photo was taken by Virginia of Marie and I talking with our regional VP Laura Morrison...not sure what we were so serious about at that moment. Finding yourself in the same room with Judith Brodsky, Lucy Lippard, Faith Ringgold, Barbara Chase-Riboud and many other legendary feminists is beyond words.
On Sunday the chapter representatives presented their yearly reports. Ours included photos of the "Dress Project" which was very well received. I attended a workshop given by Ruth van Jahnke Waters on "The Artist Statement." Ruth was a journalist before becoming a visual artist and did an incredible job teaching this workshop. I took lots of notes to share at our next meeting.
