Flying Kite's On the Ground is happy to announce that we are hosting an On the Ground: Four Corners art exhibit with Painted Bride Art Center and Small But Mighty Artsthat will feature artists from the neighborhoods we worked with over the past year. These areas include: Mantua, Frankford, Germantown and Camden.

Opening exhibition + receptions: First Fridays - January 3, February 7 from 5-7pm

Show Dates: January 3 - February 16

Location: Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine Street

ON THE GROUND: Call For Artists for Exhibition at 4017 Lancaster Ave. (A project of Flying Kite Media)

Flying Kite Media is accepting proposals for art in and on vacant storefront 4017 Lancaster Ave for display from June 8 to July 31.

This opportunity is open to artists:
- who live or hold a studio in the 19104 zip code
- working in any medium
- interested in showing work that is responsive to the theme of Transformation

Deadline for submissions is June 1. Opening exhibition will be in conjunction with Second Fridays on Lancaster Ave with reception and exhibition from 5-8pm on Friday, June 8 at 4017 Lancaster Ave. 

This exhibition is being co-presented by local artists and exhibit curator of LOOK! on Lancaster Ave, Bonnie MacAllister, and Flying Kite's On the Ground program. ON THE GROUND is a pilot initiative of Flying Kite that creates a temporary media hub in a vacant or under-utilized storefront or building and takes a deep dive on neighborhood transformation through news coverage, events and social media. After 90 days, it's on to the next neighborhood. 

Our hope is to bring together West Philadelphia artists and residents to celebrate creativity and innovation, which can serve as a catalyst for business and cultural development along the Lancaster Ave. corridor.
