Moore Award
We presented the $100 award + membership to Jen Hallden-Abberton. Jen presented her work, and she talked about her future projects. We welcomed to our chapter! She’ll be at Art for the Cash Poor with us this weekend so please stop by and meet her and see some of her work!
School District Award: This years winner of WCA Award in the Philadelphia School District's Young Artists show is Sokrutfhyda Lay, a junior from CAPA. The piece is pastel measuring approximately 40'. The awards ceremony was Saturday, June 7 at 10:00 am in the Atrium of the School District Building on Broad just south of Spring Garden. The student could not attend because she was taking the SATs, but her art teacher accepted it for her.

NATIONAL SUMMER BOARD MEETING IN DC
Also, please RSVP to Marilyn Hayes (National WCA President, WCA-Phila & WCA/DC member) if you'd like to attend the National WCA Summer Board Meeting. She can possibly house you or find housing. All members are welcome.
National Board Meeting is July 25, 26, and 27 in D.C.
We can pay for the $40 food fee and reimburse travel (tolls, gas) if you carpool.

SHE’S SO ARTICULATE AT THE ARLINGTON ARTS CENTER
She's So Articulate sets out to expand how gallery-goers think about the relation of narrative to contemporary art by African-American women. The show includes selected works and room-filling installations by 11 artists: Maya Asante, Renee Cox, Stephanie Dinkins, Djakarta, Nekisha Durrett, Torkwase Dyson, Faith Ringgold, Erika Ranee, Nadine Robinson, Renee Stout, and Lauren Woods.

We worked on the calendar for 2008-2009. It’s still evolving, but we have the following:
March 2009—“Plastic” at the Plastic Club [tentative title]
THIS IS A HISTORIC LOCATION AND A TERRIFIC OPPORTUNITY.
The group show will consist of smaller works. We have not yet set a number, but your contributions are open. All members are eligible to exhibit.

Minutes of June 11 Meeting
Bonnie MacAllister is a multimedia performance artist. She has performed at the New York Foundation of Arts and the Cat Cat Club in Paris, and her plays have been staged at the Shubin Theatre, Adrienne Theatre, and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally including in Galeria 6 in Mexico, the Utopia Library in Italy, and the Delaware Art Museum. She curates the multimedia label Certain Circuits Media (www.certaincircuits.org) which is currently accepting submissions. Her twitter: @BonnieMacArt
