Bonnie MacAllister's Jardin Series Opens January 10 at Plastic Club
Après Automne (Oil stick, pigment, oil on wood)
L'ete d'or (Oil stick, pigment, oil on wood)
L'hiver ivre (Oil stick, pigment, oil on canvas)
Presque Printemps (Oil stick, pigment, oil on wood)
These paintings were created in the garden (jardin in French) of our West Philadelphia home. Their titles stem from the four seasons: After Autumn, Summer of Gold, Drunken Winter, and Almost Spring which are the time periods of each of the pieces' conception. Drunken Winter is the eldest and has spent nearly 365 days out of doors. The paintings are born out of materials (pigment, oil stick, wood) gathered from nature and gleaned from art supply stores that coincide with mountain hikes in Appalachia, Shenandoah, Adirondacks, and Catskills. Foliage and imagery from these treks form the models for these seasons.
