“Spontaneous Repetition” unites three Philadelphia artists-- Erin E. Castellan, Marie H. Elcin, and Colleen McCubbin Stepanic-- who incorporate both the quick, spontaneous, fleeting process of markmaking with the slow, labored, repetitive processes of stitching to create mixed-media works that speak of time passing and of time standing still, resonating depth, emotion, and human existence.
