WCA Strategic Planning Meeting:
All are welcome to join the Strategic Planning Meeting at Virginia’s house, 3719 Lancaster Avenue, on June 13th at 1pm. We will be discussing upcoming exhibits and opportunities. The more the merrier as we will be interested in ideas for 2011! This meeting will be a potluck lunch.

Upcoming Exhibits/Opportunities:

Fringe Festival Demonstration and Exhibition:
For the upcoming Fringe Festival, The Philadelphia Chapter of WCA is forming our own version of "A Place at the Table" by Judy Chicago. Chairs will be artistically decorated/altered including statistical information on women’s placement in our society on Wednesday, August 8th at the member meeting at Moore College of Art and then used during the Fringe Festival in Old City on September 3rd to support women in the arts as a silent demonstration. Following the Fringe demonstration, the chairs will be housed at the Blackbox at the Adrienne Theatre for a run of September 13-20. There is also the opportunity for chapter members to exhibit other work at the theatre through Green Light Arts. The chairs will form part of the set of "The Waiting Room" which will be a Judy Chicago/Miriam Shapiro "Womanhouse" style installation featuring live arts performances each night.

If you are interesting in participating in the demonstration and exhibition, please email us at phila_wca@yahoo.com and specify your availability and the level in which you wish to contribute, i.e. – will you be present at the August meeting or Fringe? Do you have a chair available? Do you wish to make a chair from scratch instead of altering one? The demonstration will be most effective if we can get as many members involved as possible.

A few reminders about the Artists File:
If you are a new member of the WCA, one of your benefits is to join the Irving Sandler Database – an artist file online. Please go to the following website and once completed, email us at phila_wca@yahoo.com so we can update our blog with your file.
To access the Irving Sandler Database go to: http://afonline.artistsspace.org/. Once you have uploaded at least 2 artwork images to your page, the Artists File Coordinator will briefly review and publish your portfolio. Please allow 1 - 2 weeks for this process.

- As a renewing member: It is important that you keep your contact information up-to-date, particularly your email as this is the primary method by which curators will get in touch with you! You can log-in to your Artists File at any time to update your contact information. (http://afonline.artistsspace.org/login.php)

- We recommend you update your Artists File Online portfolio regularly. Please note that if you have not updated your portfolio page in 2 years, you will be automatically removed from the database. You will receive a warning email a month before this happens. .

If you are having trouble or have questions about the Artists File, please visit the Frequently Asked Questions page first. (http://www.artistsspace.org/faq.html)
