Call for Artists: author-LESS-ity
Message from the Department of Alternative Affairs:
author-LESS-ity
This is a project that aims to lessen the authority of the art world and embrace individual aesthetic and style. Please help us organize a publicly curated art exhibition by contributing an image of your favorite piece of art during Little Berlin's residency at City Hall.
All you have to do in order to participate in author-LESS-ity is contribute an image of any quality, any size, from any camera tool, and it should be the image of a favorite work of art, design object, album cover, wheat paste, wall piece, flower arrangement, glass set, hair fade, fashion ensemble, antique radio, shrine, yoga pose, whatever you believe to be a great work of art. It can be for unexplainable reasons that you like this work or your decision could be founded on deep intellectual thought. It can be a painting or it can be a mushroom lamp from your Grandmother's living room, it can be something that you saw in a public park or a piece you love to visit in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Whatever it is and for whatever the reason, please help us activate an exhibition inside of City Hall.
Once we have the images we will print them and hang them in our office in City Hall to be included in an exhibition that will occur at the culmination of our residency here at the end of July and will be fastened together in to a book. This exhibition is dependent on your contribution. The deadline for submissions is July 25.
Please send your image digitally to (any quality including cell phone pics) berlin.little@gmail.com or a printed image, preferably 8 ½ “ x 11 “ to c/o DAA, The Gallery at City Hall, Rm 116, Philadelphia, PA 19102 or upload your image here http://www.flickr.com/groups/1719247@N21/
The Department of Alternative Affairs is residency and performance by Little Berlin, extra extra and Fluxspace in the Art Gallery at City Hall, Room 116. The DAA is a project with the City's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.
A closing event open to the general public is scheduled for July 29th from 5 - 7pm. Author-LESS-ity will be on display at that time.
In addition, there are extended hours for the DAA on Wednesdays until 8 pm: July 6th, 13th, 20th and the 27th. Please come visit the department!
