Member News: Ellen Bonett
Secretary Ellen Bonett is part of the annual Midwives Collective Members Show, "REDefined."
6-10 p.m.
Midwives Collective Gallery
1241 Carpenter Street
Philadelphia, PA
From the Midwives Collective:
"This show is like no other because we decided to create our works around a theme and thus we chose "red". Whether the focus is on the color (or the absence of it), an emotion, a synonym or however the word is interpreted; this is one show that will truly define who the Midwives are. We all rigorously explored the depths of our artistic limits by challenging ourselves to present our works in the forms of painting, instillation (both mirrored and fabric design), sumi e brush painting, printing and photography.
Featured artists: Ellen Bonett, Kelly A. Burkhardt, Carol Deutsch, Sarah Hunt, Christiana Kugel, Cheryl Rybacki, Elizabeth J. Smith
We also have decided to donate a portion of the sale of any of our pieces to the Midwives of Haiti (http://midwivesforhaiti.org/), which is a nonprofit organization that sends nurses and midwives to Haiti to provide a clean and safe environment for pregnant women during the birthing process. We also have created a quilt that is available for purchase and 100% of proceeds will be donated as well.
Phew! I know that's a lot, but we have been brimming with excitement for this show! With that said...
Please join us on Friday, June 11th for the Opening Night Reception from 6pm-10pm.
Gallery hours are every Saturday for the duration of the show from Noon - 5pm. We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Thank you,
Midwives Collective
