CALL FOR ART- Old Enough to Know Better

OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER

DEAR APPLICANTS:

Please be aware that your application WILL say "Not Submitted" until we verify payment information, WCA status and number of pieces.

We will change it manually to "Show to Jury". You can edit it during the time it is not submitted and changes will happen automatically.

After you have paid through PayPal you don't need to do anything else. Please do not pay twice trying to resubmit. You CAN pay with any credit card on Paypal.

Also- please note that Entrythingy needs your images to be 1500px in WIDTH, not longest dimension as stated in a version of our prospectus. We are sorry for this oversight and any inconvenience it may have caused.

If you have any other questions, please email us at wcaphiladelphia@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your entry and good luck!

Sincerely,
Kristin Osgood Lamelas and Jude Lang

I am interested in applying to this call, but I'm 35 this year. Am I eligible?

Hello exhibition organizers!

I have a technical problem. I used entry thingy to submit my work, completed the application and paid through Paypal. I got my receipt from paypal, but for some reason, Entry Thingy lists my application as incomplete. I can't resubmit without paying again, so I wondered if someone could check to see if my entry actually was received, and if not, how should proceed.
Thanks
Kathryn Jill Johnson

I too am having the same technical problem as Kathryn Jill Johnson. I completed the application process through Thingy.com and paid the entry fee through PayPal. I do have a copy of the PayPal receipt but Thingy.com shows that my entry has not been submitted. The site sends me to the PayPal step again.

I've contacted Thingy.com. They responded that I should contact the organizers of the event.

Help?

Thanks!
Sandra Camomile

Surely you wish you had no comments like those above, and this to follow, but...please reset mine to "Not Submitted" also, and also thank you for your patience and help.

What I did was - for entertainment value (?) - my fault entirely - I answered what I thought was a question about how I picked these 10 pieces given my artist statement.
I realized this morning that there was no place to enter my WCA membership number, and that I had pasted over my 500 character statement with an explanation of why I chose those pieces. Not sure how it flew at the member rate without my number, but sad that the wrong cut and paste showed up in the statement. Thanks for whatever you might be able to do.

I am having difficulty uploading my images. The entry form specifies images should be 1500 ppi on the longest side, which mine are. (My images are 1500 ppi high x 504 ppi wide). However, the message I am getting is that there is not 1500 ppi on the width. could you please clarify? My e-mail is thosealiens@icloud.com, and also patsy2pauline@gmail.com.

Is PayPal the only payment method? Or can I submit my Visa credit card number, or send you a certified cheque?

"JPEG file format images only. For good image quality and fast upload, your image files should be sized at 1500 ppi in the longest dimension "

This is incorrect. Your uploader calls for 1500 as the minimum WIDTH of the work.

I am also having difficulty uploading my images. The entry form specifies images should be 1500ppi on the longest dimension, which mine are. When I try to upload I get a message that my image is too small. My image is 1400 pixels wide by 1500 pixels high. It seems that it is only measuring the width when the longest side is the height. Please help. My email is jwsilp1@gmail.com.

Also, is PayPal the only method? Can I pay by credit card?

Thank you,
Jennifer Schwartz

You're correct. I am sorry we missed that in writing the prospectus. Sorry for the inconvenience. It should be 1500 as the width.

Unknown said...

Hi Jennifer,
You can pay with a credit card through PayPal. The images need to be 1500 width. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Best of luck to you.

Hi. I too am having the same problem of Entry Thingy saying that my "Entry is Not Submitted." I hope that the only problem is what you explained in a previous response of the applications not saying that they are submitted until you "manually submit on our end after verifying information." The "Submit This Entry" box never showed up on my page and therefore is showing my entry as "incomplete."
Hope to hear a confirmation that this is indeed, what is happening. Thank you!

I don't know why emails are coming to me from artists having problems with Entry Thingy. I am not the go to person. I posted a comment, see above, got a reply from Kristin Osgood Lamelas and since then my email address has gotten around. Kristin, can you do something about this.
Thank you.
